Poplar (Populus)

A fast growing, hardy, deciduous tree which can reach heights of 30m. Common varieties in the UK include white poplar and Lombardy poplar. The latter having the recognisable thin, pointy shape.

Popular for its tolerance of a wide range of climate and soil conditions.

This tree is generally trimmed and trained towards the end of summer or early autumn if the work to be done is light though can be pruned more heavily in winter, when dormant if a reduction is required.
